When it comes to sneakers that are affordable and look and feel good, Cariuma is probably the best in the game at the moment. The sustainable shoe brand has won the hearts of thousands of people with its comfortable, stylish silhouettes, including supermodels and celebrities like Helen Mirren and Pete Davidson. (A sneaker alone had a waiting list of 20,000 people.) Now, it’s releasing another all-around winning style that will soon sell out.
Cariuma’s latest Salvas shoe is an ethical leather sneaker that advertises no break-in time and sells for less than $100. (I mean, you’ve sold it, right?) In line with the brand’s sustainability efforts, the sneakers are made from responsibly sourced leather from leather-certified tanneries by the Leather Working Group. Salvas’ cork insole and padded tongue recycled mesh are just two eco-friendly features that help shoes use 71% less water than traditional leather trainers.
In addition to making you feel good when you slip on your feet with salvas, they are also very stylish. Cariuma pays homage to vintage sneaker aesthetics with Salvas, including subtle piercings, contrasting colours and the brand’s signature leaf logo on the sides of the shoe. Basically, if Adidas Stan Smiths and Vans Old Skools have kids, it’s Cariuma Salvas.

The most important part: comfort. I’ve been wearing the Salvas that the brand gave me for less than a week, but it feels like I’ve owned them for years. While I’m a little wary of the “uninterrupted time” language used by a pair of leather sneakers – which is a rare occurrence – I was struck by its authenticity. From the moment I put them on, they were very comfortable; Salvas aren’t stiff at all, and thanks to the memory foamy cork insoles, they actually feel like they’re stuck to my feet.
On top of that, they look good. I love how the contrasting colour of the leaf logo and the back label adds a little sparkle to anything you wear. You can capture them with several different color combinations, including black and red, black and green, and a fun version of Pantone , which has the color of the year, Very Peri. The label says Salvas is a “timeless piece” that can take you through any occasion, from weekends to weddings — and honestly, they look good enough that I’ll really wear them at weddings.
The only problem cariuma launches is that they usually sell out quickly. If you’re sure you need a new Salvas in your life – and you do – I recommend buying a pair as soon as possible, especially since the brand’s other leather options are almost completely out of stock.
